Course Description / 講義の概要
This seminar aims to develop English communication skills while fostering critical perspectives on contemporary global and local issues such as culture, identity, civic participation, sustainability, and the relationship between AI and society. Using English as the primary medium, students will participate in and lead discussions, engage in meaningful conversations, and deliver oral reports and presentations on various timely topics. Through these activities, students will build the skills and confidence and competence to become active, informed members of both local and global communities.
本ゼミでは、英語を主な使用言語としながら、文化、アイデンティティ、市民参加、持続可能性（サステナビリティ）、AIと社会の関係など、現代のグローバルおよびローカルな課題についての理解を深めていきます。学生は、ディスカッション、会話、口頭報告、プレゼンテーションなどを通じて、英語でのコミュニケーション能力を高めるとともに、自信を持って積極的に意見を発信する力を身につけます。ローカルおよびグローバル社会の一員として、主体的かつ情報に基づいた行動ができる人材の育成を目指します。
Aspiration / ゼミの「志」
This course aspires to empower young leaders with the critical thinking skills and confidence needed to collaboratively address contemporary global and local issues. With a growing understanding of globalization and its impacts, students will be encouraged to promote civic engagement through volunteer work, public service, and various forms of community outreach.
本ゼミは、現代社会が直面する課題に対して、協力して解決策を見出そうとする若いリーダーたちを育成することを目指しています。グローバル化とその影響についての理解を深めながら、学生にはボランティア活動や地域連携、さまざまな形のコミュニティ・アウトリーチを通じて、地域社会への積極的な市民的関与を促していきます。
Prerequisite / 事前履修科目等
There is a prerequisite of a TOEIC score of 550. However, students who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to proactive participation are encouraged to register, even if they do not meet the TOEIC requirement.
TOEICスコア550点以上を目安としていますが、やる気があり積極的に参加する意志のある学生については、スコアに満たない場合でも履修を歓迎します。
Additional Information/留意事項
This is a highly active, student-led seminar. Students are expected to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and engage with ideas critically and openly.
