Tamura Gakuen

The Parent Body of Tama University

Tamura Gakuen originally established Meguro Commercial Women’s School in 1937 with the aim of training businesswomen who could contribute to society. Later, Tamura Gakuen shifted from female-only education to coeducation in response to societal needs, and founded Tama University in 1989.

Currently, Tamura Gakuen consists of Tama University, Meguro Junior and Senior High Schools, Hijirigaoka Junior and Senior High Schools (affiliated with Tama University), as well as three kindergartens: Meguro, Omorifutaba, and Mishukusakura.

Tama University began offering a part-time graduate program in 1993, primarily targeting individuals with work experience in specific fields, with the aim of developing professionals equipped to address social issues through management skills and knowledge.

Thus, Tamura Gakuen has established an integrated education system spanning from kindergarten and junior and senior high schools to university.
