Study in Japanese, in English, or in Both
The School of Global Studies (SGS) is a small liberal arts faculty established in 2007. Our campus is located in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, about 40 minutes from Yokohama and an hour from central Tokyo. Here, you will explore global issues through small, discussion-based classes and personalized support from our faculty. You will also experience the cultural diversity of modern Japan, with easy access to the dynamic energy of ultramodern Tokyo, the historical elegance of Yokohama, and the traditional beauty of Kamakura—all just a short train ride away from Shonandai Station.
In the first year, all students enroll in liberal arts and language courses. International students lacking academic proficiency in English take compulsory language support courses in both English and Japanese. Those with native-level English proficiency focus on Japanese language instruction to achieve their academic and personal goals. The liberal arts curriculum offers a wide range of subjects, including courses related to Japanese Studies.

Academic Tracks
- In the second year, students choose between two academic tracks:
- • The Hospitality Management track provides a comprehensive global outlook while cultivating professional expertise in the tourism and hospitality fields through both theoretical and practical learning.
- • The International Studies track encompasses a broad curriculum including International Business and International Relations.
The program offers a diverse range of courses taught in English only, bilingually (Japanese and English), and Japanese only. This flexible structure allows students to complete all academic requirements regardless of their Japanese language proficiency.
What’s New!A double degree is now possible through an academic partnership with BHMS in Switzerland
We are excited to announce a new double degree program through our partnership with the Business and Hotel Management School (BHMS) in Lucerne, Switzerland. This partnership allows eligible students to earn degrees from both institutions. Under this program, students who meet specific requirements can study for three years at SGS and one year at BHMS, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from each university.
